ABOUT

I didn’t choose to study toxic workplaces from a distance.

I lived it.

I spent nearly a decade inside a toxic system, carrying $130,000 in student debt that made leaving feel impossible. The debt wasn’t a side issue. It was the reason I couldn’t move. Every decision I made, from staying silent to working eighty-hour weeks, was shaped by a number I couldn’t escape.

I’m Rhonda Copher, PhD in organizational leadership. TEDx speaker. Over two decades of research. Hundreds of professionals interviewed. And I have been exactly where you are.

My research has been downloaded by scholars and practitioners at MIT, UNC Chapel Hill, the University of Sydney, IBM, and The Boeing Company, and cited in over 100 countries, without promotion.

MY STORY

So I built an exit. Slowly.

That journey became my research. Over two decades, I have surveyed and interviewed hundreds of professionals who experienced toxic leadership across healthcare, finance, the military, technology, education, nonprofit sectors, and manufacturing. Their journeys followed the same five stages. Each one required a different kind of courage.

“No one told me that when I was inside it. Every piece of advice assumed I could just leave. None of it accounted for the debt, the insurance, and the pension I’d lose if I walked away too soon. I had to figure it out alone.”

I split my time between two things: working directly with professionals navigating toxic situations, and building the tools and frameworks that scale what I've learned so others can use them on their own timeline.

My goal is simple: help professionals see clearly in a toxic workplace, so they can choose their next move with confidence, not desperation.

MY MISSION

Helping you see clearly so you can move with confidence.

Not motivation. Clarity. Not someone else's answer. Your own, built on better information than you had before.

You're not alone in this. And you have more options than you can see right now.
